I don't know what I'm doing wrong here.

Athlon 1.4(266 fsb)
Abit KT7A-Raid - BIOS Rev.3c
384mb Crucial PC-133 2.2.2 SDRAM
SB Live
300W PSU
VisionTek Geforce3

For the life of me, I cannot get the processor to boot at 1.4 When I set it to any 133FSB setting, it will not post, and I have to clear the CMOS to get it to default back. What am I doing wrong here? What should I have in the softmenu to boot to 1.4?

I can get it to boot to 12.0 x 100 +15 =13.80 but this does not seem right to me.

I was hoping one of you might have a 1.4 and tell what settings you are using.

BIOS Rev.3c - what does that mean? BIOS revisions on the Abit board are WW, WZ, YT etc.

Just manually set the multiplier to 10.5 and the FSB to 133(33).

The latest non-beta official BIOS is version 3C (after ZT). It is available from ViaHardware.com

Anyway I think I know what the problem is. I guess there is a jumper on the mobo to change the default FSP from 100 to 133.

Thanks,

I didn't know that! Thanks.

No jumper for FSB on the KT7A, its not that.

That's what these guys said. Is this wrong?

The thing is, I can not get any settings for my Athlon 1.4 to work (at least not at 1.4). It will post at 12.5 x 100FSB/33PCI (+7 CPU MHz) but that is only 1.391GHz and I'm pretty sure the FSB should be 133 anyway. When I select 133 it gives me a PCI clock of 44MHz. Won't even post at 133/44 and I'm back to clearing the CMOS to get it to boot.

Does anyone know what the multiplier is supposed to be? I thought it was 10.5 x 133/33. Only that is not a choice in the Softmenu.

SOFTMENU should have 100/33 and then 133/33. everything else from that will increase your PCI clock. U sure u can't find 133/33?

If you look on page 40 of the manual for the Abit KT7 RAID it even shows a diagram of all FSB/PCI setting choices and it clearly shows 133/44 not 133/33. The next is 134/34 but my computer will not post at that setting.

Does anybody know for sure that KT7 supports the new Athlon with the 266 FSB?

I'm on hold for 20 minutes so far with Abit now...

I am running a 226fsb 1.2G Athlon in a Kt7a-raid @ 1.4G. It will run at 1.5G but not reliably. In softmenu set the processor to user define.

then set the fsb to 140 and the multiplier to 10. If you want more information on it I can open the bios when I get home tonight. just pm me.

There is a 133(33) and a 133(44) option, I kid you not. You obviously want the former, while setting the multiplier to 10.5. That should fix it. I have the original WW BIOS installed on my KT7A still and my 1.4 ran fine with these settings.

I just got off the phone with Abit tech support. They would not talk to me about BIOS 3c. They claim it is a beta (VIAhardware.com claims it is not)

He told me that there is a 133/33 setting in the ZT revision. So I will flash bach to ZT and see if that solves my problem.

This was my email response from Abit...

The tech support guy I spoke to yesterday, said something completely differnt to me. He said that it DID support it.

I could not find this 133/33 setting everyone claims is there. When using the 3c bios it is not there. You can hit enter when the FSB is highlighted and see all choices available. When I scroll all the way down to the bottom ther is NO 133/33 choice. I flashed back to ZT - same thing. Then I tried the WW that somebody above mentioned and after a successful flash the computer would not boot. I think the BIOS update failed.(even though it said successful) I get 3 or 4 long beeps and no post.

I am ordering a new bios on Monday...

Sorry KT7 doesn't support 266FSB. Thank you.

Subject: KT7 raid - FSB problem

What are the settings I should be using for my Abit KT7-RAID? (I am using BIOS rev 3c but I was having the same problem with ZT)

I have an Athlon 1.4 (266 FSB) I cannot find any stable settings for it at 1.4. I was thinking that it would be 133/33 x10.5 but my only choices are 133/44 and it will not post with this selection. I can get it close using 12.5 x 100/33 +7CPU MHz but this seems wrong not to mention it is not even at it's default speed yet.

These are the threads at Anandtech I tried before emailing you. Everyone seems to think there should be a 133/33 choice. Is there?
