Help:: Socket 370 heatsink tab broke off... How can I repair it?

dahunan

Is there some way I can repair the tab or replace the top half of the ziff socket on my motherboard?

It is not under warranty and it does not have any holes around the CPU for any different style of heatsink to be installed...

I noticed that there are two other prongs that are off-center.... Is there a heatsink clamp that will work on those other prongs.

yup

check out www.svc.com, they've got some good prices and a nice variety.

edit: this one uses all 3 prongs

I had a socket 7 one break off, I was able to get under it with a dremil tool and carve out enough of a tab to get it to hook. I was using an Intel OEM P3 HSF on a 300M2 w/ ceramic case+metal cap, and it made it ride up nice and high.
