Help! should I upgrade Compaq presario w/ Win 98se to Win2k?

My girlfriend has a compaq presario with Win98se, and I want to upgrade it to Win2K. I'm not sure what model it is, but it's got an AMD K6-2 333mhz, a 4gig hd, 120megs of RAM (it only registers as 120), and she got it as part of a free-PC deal that crashed a few years ago.

I'm afraid of compatibility issues with her board, b/c her video/audio is on-board (but I haven't seen it in awhile and I can't remember if the video is). I believe it meets microsoft's requirements for upgrade, but I don't want there to be any problems.

happy holidays!

You can try it but be prepared to go back to win98.
Compaq often has proprietary hardware/ drivers. I've never had a compaq OS upgrade go flawlessly

i have a compaq 1260 which sounds exactly the same config yuo mentioned except i upgraded the ram from 64 to 160, but was unable to successfully load win2000 on the computer from a clean install. ill try winxp next time my cd-rom works and hopefully that will be more successful.
