Walmarts are bad only for mom and pop, who employ nobody except a couple teenagers, have no health insurance, retirement, stock options, or any other benefits. For everyone else except mom and pop, Walmarts are great.

WalMart was a mom-n-pop store once also. Your friend (and many of her fellow store owners across the country) are simply angry that they cannot compete against a better run organization. That she thinks that a town with just smaller businesses is superior to one with a WalMart style superstore is simply her biased opinion on how life should be. Obviously millions of people disagree else WalMart wouldn't be the world's largest retailer.

What Jehovah said is true. Another thing Walmart does is open a store in a large town/small city, drive everyone else out of business in that town, open a new Walmart in another town thirty miles away and then close the first Walmart. Now everybody in two towns is captive to them.
