ok, as the title succinctly puts it, I'm pissed at seti and don't want my 14 cores of highly overclocked c2d's to go to waste. I've downloaded the latest smp client for my main rig, and I need to download same for my 2nd rig. my main rig uses a 4850, so I need one smp client for it, correct? however, the 2nd rig has a fanless 7300gt, so am I correct in using 2 smp clients for it? Does anybody have any "quick and dirty" smp steps? I downloaded the latest smp client for x32, but somehow I ended up only using it on one core.

List your systems for us by CPU, GPU & OS and we can tell you the best combination of clients for maximum ppd production.

You should be using the 6.22 beta2 SMP client, it doesn't matter which one really. Notice if running the deino client you need to run with the -smp and -deino flags, and with the mpich client you need to run with the -smp flag to get SMP work units and use all cores.

GLeeM's stats threads have some instructions for setup. They are a little dated and talk about running two clients, but the process works for one client.

I think for those instructions to still be valid, the easiest way is to choose the MPICH version (will make sense when you are at the download page)

the only differences are slightly different questions and answers when you run the configuration and you have to include the -smp flag along with the others that are described.

Good Luck (and welcome aboard!)
