Help setting up RH7 Linux Server w/CVS

ok, I've been tasked to set up a Linux Server that will run CVS (not the drugstore =). I have RH7 installed and running. I need to open up port 2041 for the server to receive connections from the windows/linux clients over a TCP/IP LAN. I thought adding a line to my identd.conf would do the trick but apparently not. Any ideas on how to do this? I've looked at a bunch of HOWTOs but can't find anything. Anyone else familiar with CVS and have any tips for me?
