help setting up network

I am trying to set up a network at home. my wife's comp is running windows me. I get a blue page if I run the networking wizard or i get a a mesage "Unable to browse the network" if I try to access Entire Network. There is a fixe here http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q272/9/91.ASP or at least supposed to be. It still doesn't work. Here is what I have 2 comps both running win ME and a Linksys switch, the switch sees all the comps. Any ideas???
 
can you ping both computers?
have tcp/ip installed?
check to make sure all the usual stuff is ok
