I have two computers, one upstairs and one downstairs. They are networked using a crossover cable and both computers are using Win 98 SE but only the downstairs computer is near a phoneline. The downstairs computer also has internet connection sharing installed, but in the device manager, there's an exclamation point next to it. The error is that NDIS.VXD can't load the device. The upstairs computer doesn't have ICS installed. At first, I had trouble getting the downstairs computer connecting to the internet but after I disabled ICS, it miraculously connected properly. Could someone help me get ICS working? Even if I get ICS working on the downstairs computer, I don't know how to set it up for both computers. Thanks a lot.

I had problems with my ICS the first time I installed it. I ended up deleteing under network in control panel everything pertaining to Internet sharing and reinstalling the ICS.

For information on installation goto start > help > type in "internet sharing". I installed mine using this.

Overview: use the internet sharing wizard on computer that connects to net. during that setup you will make a floppy to run on the other machine to set it up. Looks and sounds easy but I had to run the floppy from my host machine because the remote said it didn't have permission to run this program or something like that. Anyhow put floppy in host computer and share drive and exacute program from remote machine.

I hope this helps!

You only need to install ICS on the machine that has the internet connection. You'll need to probably reinstall ICS on the downstairs computer since it's near the phoneline.

Ok, ICS is set up on the downstairs computer (the host) but the upstairs computer (the client) won't connect to the internet. I have ICS enabled sharing my modem and connecting to the network with my network card. How do I set up the client? I can't seem to find an article relating to this anywhere. Using the internet connection wizard, do I connect over lan? What about those proxy settings? Thanks.
