Help setting up DVD player

Please help solve this problem, I just installed a new 8X Samsung DVD player in my computer. I am running a DFI K6BV3+
Via chipset w K62-400 & Trident 3D Blade AGP video card. When I try to play DVD movies with PRODVD or WinDVD the movie looks like it's playing through a grill with a pattern of black lines in front of the display. The movie and sound play fine behind the pattern. I installed the latest video drivers and still no help.
