Hi,

I'm having problems setting up a netgear usb wireless adapter MA111 with my 2wire 1000 router from SBC Yahoo. I installed all the Netgear software and it shows it as working, but it isn't receiving anything from the router. It shows it transmitting, however. Does anyone know how I'm suppose to set it up?

I did some searching for the answer and it seems that the 2wire is a bit fickle about wireless adapters, but nothing people suggested worked. I tried turning off the win zero config and that did no good.

If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

MS Zero Configuration was not devised for Entry Level consumers Hardware, it must be set off.

Put the computer with the Wireless Client close to the Wireless Router,

Disable all software Firewalls (including windows ICF).

Make sure that the drivers are set to infrastructure mode and obtain IP auto.

Make sure that the Router does not have any MAC or IP filtering on.

Router's DHCP On.

Disable WEP on both devices.

Set the SSID and channel of the Router and the Client card to be is same name.

And have a good luck.

Hey Jack,

Thanks a lot. I followed your steps and got it working. So, I went back and did things one by one and came to the conclusion that the WEP is what was keeping it from working. I set the WEP correctly on my adapter, but it just won't receive anything.

So, now I'm curious about how to protect this network... If you have any ideas I'd be glad to hear them.
