HELP: set friends video resolution too high

A friend of mine had me work on his computer (reformat, install XP pro).

Appearently, when I had it, I set the resoultion/refresh rate too high for his monitor to handle (don't know what he has for a monitor, but I'm guessing it's OLD)

Anyway, when he boots up, he gets the initial black "windows XP" screen with the progress bar, but then the monitor goes into power save mode. He says the hard drive sounds like a normal boot, so I'm assuming I just set the resolution/refresh rate too high.

So, how do I tell him to fix the problem?
Would booting into safe mode and changing the setting do it?

Any advice?

Thanks!@

Booting into safe mode should allow you to do it. Or swap out his video card with another one so you can fix it.

Safe Mode man... also how did they manage that... it should go back to the other resolution in 15secs if you cant see. I guess they could have hit enter but still.

when I reloaded the OS, I probably set it up at my normal resolution/refresh rate on my monitor

when he took it home, and tried to run the computer on his monitor, he was not able to get anything on the display.

I guess his monitor is inferior to mine :)
