I’m looking for advice on what earbuds to buy. I currently have Etymotic Research ER 6 (quite a few years old) and Klipsch Image S4-II. The left channel of the Klipsch has gone out. Comparing the two, the Etymotic have superior midrange and high frequency response relative to the Klipsch but the Klipsch have much deeper bass and a much more full sound. They both were in the $80.00 to $100.00 range. I’m willing to consider earbuds in the $150.00 to $200.00 range. I would like something that offers good bass and a full sound but would also like clear midrange and high frequency. Any feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I can read reviews but I feel personal experience from users would be more valuable. Thanks.

I've been very happy with the Xiaomi Pistons. They have a strong following on HeadFi as well.

The Monoprice 8320 also has a cult following for having a really good range and fidelity (if you are able to get the right fit with additional foam eartips).

The Monoprice have a more recent version that gets rid of the dumb cloth cord.

The Pistons will have a fuller sound compared to the Monoprice. The Monoprice is very flat and accurate though.

I have the Etymotic MC5s. I had to return them once as they broke on the seam. RMA was painless but they broke again 3 months later. Still under warranty but I am not going to keep sending them back. I just super glue them and I won't buy that brand again.
I've also had the cone come off in my ear twice and had to dig it out. Super glued them on too.

That doesn't sound like something i'd like to deal with..just saying.

get a used set of triple.fi 10 pro's for under $200

full sound. some say highs are too rolled off but I, and many others, totally disagree.

I actually like these a hell of a lot for the price, and have other IEM's.

They are the ones I use most often.
