Thinking of picking up a netbook during black friday for one of my relatives. He really wants a small portable computer for web browsing youtube and the occasional skype (definitely not a gamer). Seems there are some good deals all less than $150, but I'm not sure which one I should buy? Any sugestions? Thanks for the help.^_^

The Acer may be the best value because the Atom N550 is a dual core. All the others use the N455, which is a single core (all have Hyperthreading).

The HP is interesting because it claims to have a 7200RPM HDD, but it has the smallest battery of the bunch by far.

The Dell is the cheapest. FWIW I had two of the previous models (Inspiron Mini 1012) and BOTH of them died within warranty. Those were the only notebooks I've ever had die on me so far out of I don't know how many I've had (15?) whether in or out of warranty.

Samsung sometimes has the highest quality look/feel.

I would still get the Acer. Biggest battery, fastest CPU.

I didn't realize until you told me that the acer was the only dual core atom. Thanks for your advice Zap! I'll go for that, if not that samsung will be backup.

You're welcome!

You can also check out any that use AMD C or E series dual core APUs (don't get the single core). Those are pretty competitive compared to Atoms, and the highest end outperforms the dual core Atoms.

well, any of the E series is going to absolutely destroy the C series, which destroys the entire atom line.

i have a c-50 acer netbook, and it's an excellent netbook. i'm replacing it with an x230, but it's still a good netbook.
