Problem:

2 systems, basically the same with Soundblaster soundcards. 1 will boot into Windows and the other gives me a blue screen of death trying to load windows. I have reinstalled the OS on one of them, changed the pci slots, flashed the bios, updated the mobo drivers, cycled power and almost covered with gasoline and lit on fire. The only thing that works is to boot in safe mode and uninstall the software to the sound cards. Drivers only works fine.

Systems:
#1
Abit KT7A Raid
1.2 GHZ Athlon 266FSB not OC or modified
128MB Crucial pc133
FOP 38
Radeon 32MB DDR AGP
Sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.1
Linksys 10/100 NIC
Creative 48X CDROM
Western Digital 20GB 7200rpm ATA/100

#2
Abit kt7a
1.1GHZ Athlon 200FSB not OC or modified
128MB Crucial pc133
FOP 38
Radeon 32MB DDR AGP LE
Sound Blaster Live Value
Linksys 10/100 NIC
Basic 48X CDRom
Western Digital 10GB 5400 rpm ATA/66

Cannot find any updated drivers for the 5.1. I am trying a full reformat as I type this. I did find that if I manually removed the driver files, uninstalled the software, rebooted while cancelling any setup info I was able to reinstall the software without getting a BSOD upon reboot. I also read in another post to put the sblive in the 6th pci slot and assign irq 5 to it in bios. I will try that tonight and tomorrow. I'll update.

hey there well i have sound blaster live 5.1 and ran into simular problems, I can only tell you how I got mine to work and see if you can try this. i started with a fresh format and got the same type of thing after I started loading this. so I went into systems and deleted all the cards i had in my rig....SCSI....ethernet....sound card....and then I took out all the cards. rebooted and let windows get a fresh start. shut down and put the sound blaster in the first PCI slot and rebooted and loaded the drivers and the software.....shut down and placed in the net card.....loaded the drivers and shut down......put in the scsi card and did the same thing.
that seemed to work for me and all the irq's are not conflicting now. everything on the rig is working. hope that helps
