If I have the SB Live Value in the system, it crashes and corrupts the registry, and it gets very frustrating. I'm booting with the SB Live as the only card, and I've tried many PCI slots. Also, I have the new Abit BIOS as well as the latest Via 4in1 drivers, and have also tried the SB Live with the newest drivers as well. I don't know what else to do to make it work... I heard there's a fix to this problem, if so, can somebody tell me? I'm afraid to put the card in the system now, because I've spent so much time trying to fix it, and once it crashes Windows its a real mess trying to get everything back up and running again. Help!!!

I've done my searches, found some posts, tried all the suggestions, and still haven't fixed the problem.

I'm also running WinME... I don't know if this has to do with the problem, but sounds like the SB Live problem happens no matter what OS.
I wish the cure to this problem is as simple as you state Moralpanic, cuz after doing lots of research and trying many suggestions, I still can't fix it and I'm starting to think about soundcard alternatives.

One easy solution is to switch to the Santa Cruz....better sound and less problems.

The newest 4 in 1's should have fixed a lot of the problem..

Have you tried disabling SB16 Emulation in hardware manager? That might help alleviate the problem.

GoCanucks, are you getting a BSOD/emu10k1.vxd error? If so, you need to do two things (one's not directly related to this, but is still good practice). First, get the latest SBLive driver update (OK, you guys can stop laughing, I know it's been ages since CL released an updated driver). If you have to boot to Safe Mode to get into your system, that's OK. Then apply the drive update.

Second, disable the SB16 Emulation in Device Mgr. It hogs a second IRQ, and is nothing but trouble.

I've tried disabling SB emulation, but still same thing - random freezes.
Jeff: I don't get any error message at all, its just a freeze and I have to hit the reset button. This doesn't sound like the typical soundblaster problem with the via southbridge, but the system is rock stable without the card in, so I'm pretty sure its the Live having problems with the board.

Thanks for all the help though, but I think I might have to resort to Taz's suggestion - get a new soundcard.

Also, can I get the KT7A replaced because of this? Maybe switching boards will solve the problem as not everyone has it, but I doubt there's anything actually wrong with the board, it just doesn't mingle well with the SB Live.
