Help! Satin vs brushed vs polished

How do they differ?
According to m-w.com, brushed is polished but without the shine

But what about satin? Is that the same as polished?

Polished is shiny. Brushed looks like you ran steel wool or something over the metal, it has almost a grain to it. Satin is sort of like a sandblasted finish, it's not 'shiny' like polished steel but it doesn't have a 'grain' like brushed metal does.
