What is your drive configuration?
Is the SATA intended to be a boot drive?
Have you tried to install the OS to the SATA drive using the SATA driver?
Does the SATA utility appear after the first boot screen?
SATA drives do not appear in bios only in the SATA RAID config program that runs after the original boot screen.
The MAXBLAST utility may be an IDE only utility.
Make a floppy with the SATA drivers from the mb distro disk. These drivers are needed even if you are not installing a RAID system.
Boot to your OS install disk. (WIN 2K or XP - I don't know about 98 or ME)
Hit F6 when asked if you have any RAID drivers to install.
Insert SATA drivers floppy.
Finish install.
The OS should have no problem installing to the SATA drive.
On information and belief most new Lixux distro's will properly detect the SATA channel and install to the SATA drive. (Correct me if I am mistaken.) I have not tried a direct install to my SATA drive with Linux only XP.
