Hello and thanks in advance for reading my problem.

I have a asus nforce2 standard mobo with 512 ram, xp pro etc..I think the problem is with the Sapphire 9500 video card. After I boot the display shows muti-colored squares and vertical lines sometimes. I can't get it to show video correctly. I hooked it up correctly with the addtional power cord. It was a OEM board so there were no instructions to speak of. Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas? I plug in another video card into the mobo and it works fine. Does the board need some thing im not doing?

thanks

Tim

It could be a faulty card, did you try the sapphire card in another PC?

Hmmmm if you find any answer to this let me know. I get the same issue occasionally with my A7N8X and MSI GF4 4400... multi colored squares all over the place. It's kind of random when it happens for me, sometimes on bootup sometimes in games. I haven't tried my card in another PC I just assummed my video card was going bad.... maybe I was wrong?

Are you using driver hacks on your video card to make it a 9700? Also download the latest nForce2 drivers. Also maybe old overclocking utilities from a previous video card and or drivers?

Thanks guys for you help

Have you tried fooling with fast writes etc... in the BIOS yet? Id try every BIOS setting you can... Im hoping you can figure it out so I know where to look to fix mine also. Mine's intermittent so its hard to test different BIOS settings. Maybe also try the MB outside the case? Maybe something is shorting to your case.

And guys stop posting driver things :p It cant be a driver issue when its doing it at POST.
