My Samsung LN32A330 did not turn on last night. The red power standby light was on but the tv would not turn on. I googled and lo and behold many people have this issue. Most said it was capacitors on the power board. I opened up my tv and removed the power board. Only one cap is bulging slightly but is not leaking. Are the chances good that this one cap it the issue? I priced out boards from site I never heard of ranging from 70-120 bucks. Any advice? I need my TV and really cant afford to repair/replace. I can afford capacitors tho.

When in doubt, start with the simplest/most common solution. Recap that bitch.

If it's cheap enough, then replacing that bad-looking cap would be a good first step.

Sweet! replaced a $.50 10v 2200uf cap and all is working! I used really old (40year+) solder and it had so much resin that I fear the cap will become loose. I plan on recapping it with better solder but for now it works. Whats the worse that can happen with ancient solder on that cap? I left the TV unplugged just in case.

I face the same situation. I have the LN32A330 connected to a computer that regularly goes into sleep mode; today, the computer woke up but the LN32A330 did not. I tried unplugging and, when that failed, every conceivable combination of buttons on the remote and tv.

If you learn something new, please post it. I'm fairly handy in general but inexperienced with tv repair in particular. Thanks a million.

The older solder won't make much of a difference. If the flux worked you'll be fine.

Note: If you replaced only the one cap, be prepared for the others to go soon after. I always replace them all at once juhst so I don't have to open the thing up again.
