Okay, so I bought my girlfreind this really nice silver ring from Tiffany's... I give it to her and she really likes it. But after wearing it for a few hours, she took it off and it had left a green band around her finger where the ring had been.
she said that it was becuase she has iron defficiency or something like that.. or maybe an allergic reaction to the silver....
i dont know though, has this happened to anybody else? Did Tiffany's rip me off and sell me a 150 dollar fake ring?
is there anyway to stop it from making her finger green? She really likes the ring so i'd hate to take it back.

What's on the ring? You paid $150 for a silver ring?

I don't think it's really uncommon for that to happen, though. My grandfather has a similar reaction to copper.

If a person is anemic you can basically write on them with gold.
Not sure about silver.
I doubt Tiffany's ripped you off.

its a silver ring with a heart design on it.. its pretty nice, i'll see if i can find a picture of it on the website.... It had better be pure for as much as it cost..

if its just an allergic reaction? will it do this forever, or after wering it a while- will it stop turning her finger green

I don't know. I'm not a doctor, but my grandfather's had it for as long as I can remember.

Maybe she should go see a physician.

$150 is a lot for silver.
Maybe $1 worth of silver in a ring.
See if she tollerates platinum.

Yeah if it turns it green it means it's just silver coated and really bronze or copper.

<< $150 for a ring? CHEAP ASS!@ jk :) >>

haha.. yeah maybe, but for a poor, currently unemployed college student with total savings around 500 dollars.. I'd say i did pretty good.

and i refuse to believe that its not pure silver. I think i might have to sue Tiffanys

from some ring faq:

<<
Q: Will sterling silver turn my finger green?
A: Most people can wear sterling silver .925 with no reaction. However, a few people will not be able to. This will depend on your body acidity.
>>

it appears your gf is one of the 'lucky' few...

Well...I'm sure it is not pure silver.....cuz most or all of the silver at Tiffany's is 98.75% Sterling Silver. I think it is just a reaction between the ring and your lady friend. Don't know if much can be done, but good luck.

edit: or maybe she's really a troll or something and it's just wearing off her costume.

Dude to test it just wear it on your pinky finger for a couple days & if it turns your finger green than its the ring, & if it doesnt than its your GF.
