Hi,a guy recently gave me a monitor because it was trash, but to my suprise,it powered up. It wouldnt work,so I looked a some pins were broke. On the cable there is a large/medium round black thing,do I cut below or above this? And does anyone have wire diagrams for my refrence?

That black thing is a choke to prevent interference from coming out of the computer and should be kept, if possible. www.pc-guide.com should have the pinout of the cable.

Are you sure that the pins on the cable are broken, because all cables have certain pins removed and every monitor's cable is different from the next.
