Hello everyone,

I'm looking for comments and critiques on the components I've selected for my upcoming build. I will mainly be using this comp for gaming and general office work. My budget is around $1,000, and with Newegg's free shipping and some good rebate deals, I'm currently right at that mark.

Here are my components, listed with price, and a little explanation as to why I choose them:

-GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P ($117 after rebate) - I got this mobo instead of the DS3L because it has more USB slots, as I tend to use them, and for the onboard RAID.

-Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 ($188) - I almost went Quad core, to be more future proof, but from what I've read, C2Ds are better for gaming

-SAPPHIRE 100259-1GL Radeon HD 4870 1GB ($275) - It seems like the 1GB versions of the 4870 are not much more expensive than the 512MB, but perform much better, and I can't justify the price of a 4870 X2.

-CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 ($25.00 after rebate) - At these prices, should I get 8GB instead of 4GB?

-CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX 520W ($70 after rebate) - I know 520W is overkill for this system, but I wanted a quiet PSU that was modular, and at this price, it seemed like a very good value

-COOLER MASTER RC-690 ($75) - I like the look, it gets good reviews for being quiet and the price seems right.

-Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA ($130) - I've never had a problem with WD, and I wanted a 1TB drive.

-LG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner ($25) - Don't need a BluRay player, so this seemed good enough.

I'm also going to get some Scythe 120mm fans to replace the case fans. I already have a monitor, an OS (Vista x64) and a keyboard and mouse.

Let me know what you think.

Don't forget to buy a good HS/fan if you plan on OCing.

Everything looks fine. I hate WD drives, but that's a personal preference.

Why? The UD3P is a fine board.

That said, you mention that you wanted the RAID function of the UD3P, yet you're only buying one hard drive.

I find the layouts more suitable and accommodating to my enthusiastic needs.

What's wrong with the UD3P's layout?
