Help Request - Stabalizing ASUS P5E3 Premium Wi-Fi + QX9770 + 4GB DDR3 1600 X.M.P.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey all,

Newbie here who will be very appreciative for any help or suggestions!

Just built a new rig (my first build ever), and so far I've been very pleased with how it went. However, I'm still having a bit of trouble getting it 100% stable, and I'd certainly like to.

Relevant specs:
-ASUS P5E3 Premium Wi-Fi Motherboard (BIOS 0505)
-Intel QX9770 3.2 GHz Processor w/ Actic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro HS/Fan
-Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600 MHz Memory X.M.P. (7-7-7-20) with Airflow Active Cooler
- EVGA GTX 280 FTW
- Silverstone Temjin TJ-09 with 5 120 mm Case Fans (and I can't say enough about how great this case was to build in!)
- PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad

Right now I'm just trying to get stock processor speed + X.M.P. speed stable without overclocking further (in the future, who knows). Everything's pretty much set to Auto. When running X.M.P., I set it to use the only X.M.P. profile (7-7-7-20). When I've switched to JEDEC 1333 below for testing purposes, all I set is the frequency to 1333 and it automatically knows the rest (9-9-9-24).

System is pretty cool I think. Tested the video card and it passed with flying colors even though it's the hottest component. Furmark's Xtreme Burning torture test got it to about 86C for a moment (til the fan kicked in all the way and took it to 83C), and I think that's pretty good considering a 105 maximum for this card. I ran that a few hours with no problems.

Processor's never gone above 54C even at extreme loads (100% on all four cores) for prolonged periods. Individual cores have gone slightly higher (highest I've seen is 67C, but that's very rare...usually hovers around 62-63) and core temps are all within 5-7C of each other. Thermal paste is applied correctly as I had to redo it (initially used too much and had to use alcohol to take it off of HS and CPU).

Motherboard temperature is 32C at load or so. All exhausts except video card blowing very cool air.

First testing the system, I was getting a single Memtest86+ error at 1600 MHz and multiple passes. 1333 JEDEC worked fine. Using Corsair support, I eventually reseated the memory and was able to run 28 passes at X.M.P. 1600 speed without trouble.

However, I'm still getting Prime95 64 errors when I run it on all four cores. At 1600 MHz, I can run it a few minutes to a few hours (its made it 3 or so) before I get a rounding error in one of the cores, mostly Core 0, but it also has happened on Core 1. At 1333 JEDEC I was able to run more than 10 hours (was shooting for 12), but still got the same error (and this was the time the error occurred on Core 1).

I'm not experiencing any Windows problems (though only limited use so far), crashes, blue screens, etc. It's possible real world performance would be fine, and part of me is tempted to say stable enough and BIOS updates should improve it, but I really would like rock solid stability if at all possible.

Any help is certainly very much appreciated!
