I'm replacing my PSU with an antec sp450 in an aspire xdreamer case. Looking for some help/hints/tips for doing this. I know this is a supposedly simple installation but I have never even opened a computer before so I dont want to just charge in and get electrocuted or worse yet, fry my mobo. For example, I read up on it a bit and saw a suggestion to unplug the PSU then power up the comp to dissipate built up charge. Is this safe for the components? Are there some commonly made mistake you know about? Any help (or pointing me in the direction of a helpful site) would be much appreciated. Thanks!

There's really not much to it. Just shut down the PC, shut down the power supply with its switch on the back, unplug everything, open up the case, carefully unplug all the power connectors (make sure you don't bend any pins), unscrew old PSU, put in and fasten new PSU, plug in connectors. Pay attention to the keys on the connectors and their respective plugs, and just use common sense.

After you unplugged the PSU on the back, and before you open the case to unplug everything, push the power button of your case a couple of times, for the rests of current to leave the circuits... Don't do it on a carpet, don't do it if you're wearing socks on a carpet, DON'T let your cat come near if you have one...
