HELP! Replacement springs for Zip drive door??

Hi all,

After vinyl dying my floppy, zip and CD-bezels, I was foolish enough to drop one the springs used on the Zip drive door. Needless to say, it's gone.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement spring? I tried one computer store and I got the deer-in-the-headlights look (but they did offer to sell me a new Zip drive <g>). I also tried a jewelry store, but they didn't have any either.

To be honest, the spring I lost was actually for my sandbox machine, so if the door is a little loose, it's not a biggie, but I would like to replace it.

I don't think it would be easily possible to replace it. New Zip drives are very cheap now though.

Your phrase, "sandbox computer" is really funny.

What type of zip drive ? I have an old zip 100 scsi internal unit I found in the trash that I was debating just tossing without trying to make it work. I could cannibalize it.
