HELP - replaced Duron 800 w/ Athlon Tbird 1100 + Volcano6cu + ASII

I just put on my new Tbird1100 to replace my Duron 800 and there are two things I'm somewhat scared of:

1.) I may have scratched the copper base of the Volcano6cu hsf while trying to rub off the black pad. It was really hard to get it all off and I used rubbing alcohol and nail polish remover w/ papertowels and tissues. I'm not sure, but after rubbing most of the gunk off, there was a bit of dark residue (very very thin) and some burned looking marks...I felt the burn marks and it didn't feel like the rest of the copper base.

2.) I then applied artic silver on my CPU (a very thing layer) and then on the HSF. I didn't completely wipe down the ASII on the heatsink though like they recommend on the site...i just wiped it down a few times....will I have any problems?

I guess I'll just sit tight and test it before doing anything. BIOS says my cpu is running at 36C degrees...so I guess I'm good for now.

Any advice would be great, thanks!

I had a similar "problem" when I got my globalwin fop38. A friend took the heat pad off but scratched it a little bit. I used 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper and wet sanded the base to smooth it out.

well, after leaving it on for a day, my cpu temperature is hanging steady at 46C......too high? I've tried searching for this topic in old posts, but it's too broad....can't narrow my search enough to find anything. Thanks!
