So I was browsing the web today and suddenly a fatal error comes up, so I check to see if some malicious software had installed itself in the startup. I checked msconfig and I saw that kavo.exe and tavo.exe were there. I have no idea how this malware was installed because I never visit malicious sites. I hear it is a difficult piece of spyware to remove. Could somebody please give me some steps and tips to removing this spyware? Thanks

Moved to Security from Software For Windows.

The flaw in that logic is that any site, including normally-safe ones, can be turned malicious by various methods, such as malicious advertising banners, server hack, whatever. Maybe you could say you never intentionally visit malicious sites... ;) but in Soviet Russia, malicious sites visit YOU.

You might start with John's malware removal guide and also consider my prevention suggestions going forward. If problems persist, you can always post a HijackThis log as your next step.
