Soo I just got my mobo/cpu combo from monarch they install the cpu into the motherboard and check if it runs for you. I got the dfi nf4 ultra and retail 3000+ venice. Anyhow I'm trying to swap out the retail hsf to put in my xp-90. So I can get the clip without the lever off easily but the other side is a different story. I can push it down by cant move it out with just my fingers. I got a small screwdriver and used it to pry at it to push it out. If I use a lot of force (to the point where I'm scared if it slips I'd stab something) it would be at the very brink I think of being unclipped but wouldn't budge past. Is there some secret easy method I'm missing out on here? lol...

btw I undid the lever from the hooked position.

Ok got the clips removed. However its still stuck. Is the thermal pad adhesive??

need heat to remove the old HS... you could fire up your pc to warm it up prior to prying or use a blow dryer... oh & use AS5 for new install...

Did you move the plastic lockign lever to the other side? When you do that there should be more than enough looseness (for lack of a better word) to unhook the clip.

finally got it :) haha I did unlock the lever.. I know I have small fingers but I still had trouble getting it out stupid lever :( and theres no like crevice to stick a screw driver in. but finally managed to pry it off with the screwdriver lol. but yea I booted it up for a little and that seemed to do that trick it came off with some force but it came off.

some links to it. Surprisly I got a week 17. (Ordered last Thursday recieved it today) Thanks monarch. I'm kinda worried about the marks on the corners but I think its ok they feel smooth.

would it be safe to remove the bracket and replace it with the xp-90 one with the cpu in there? (just asking to make sure)

Retail AMD64 heatsink was a bitch to remove. Xp90 was even worse to install. But it happened eventually...

oh and the mounting bracket thing, you don't need to remove what's on the mobo currently (it's the default AMD bracket), the xp90 will come with mounting gear to uh .. make things align properly.

But seriously, slow and steady wins the race. One slip of a screwdriver and it's all over :/
