Hey guys, need a bit of a help here. I have a windowed case and I want to replace the stock fan on the AMD heatsink with a custom LED fan, but I am having a real hard time removing it - there are 4 clips on the side bbut the fan wouldn't move even if I pry the clip open.

Am I doing something wrong here? Does anyone know how to remove the fan off of a stock AMD heatsink unit? Socket AM2 type... thanks.

Hammer and chisel, assuming you don't have a crowbar handy.

I don't think the fans on stock heatsinks are made to be replaced. Why not just replace the stock heatsink entirely seeing as aftermarket ones tend to be a lot better.

Which stock AM2 HSF?

There are typically 4 screws on the non-heatpipe HSF's that need to be removed. Pic :camera:

The Heatpipe versions simply lift off once you've pryed the clips out and lift up. Pic :camera:
