Somehow I've lost my ability to change my monitor refresh rate. I go doe display properties - settings - advanced - adapter, and there used to be a box right there where I could select my refresh rate (62hz, 72 hz etc. etc.). Jog my memory please. Please - its driving me crazy.

Windows 98Se, Geforce4Ti4200.

Thanks.

This usually happens when a generic or a "Plug-and-play" monitor is selected in the Advanced section of the Display Properties. Make sure so specify your particular monitor maker and model, not just a "Plug and Play monitor" or 1024x768 generic monitor, etc.

In any case, I also recomment PowerStrip utility. Great thing, especially for fixing the 60-hz refresh rate problem with Windows XP and games.

You know, you're right....sort of.

For some reason, I'm getting TWO monitors showing up in my device manger. One was "default monitor" and the other "kdsview700", which is my monitor. I tryed deleting the default monitor, but it came back and loaded its own drivers when I rebooted. So I manually changed the driver to the kdsview700. Now I can change the refresh rate, but device manger still shows two kds monitors. WTF?

Thanks for your help.

Tried removing both monitors then installing your monitor driver. Once I had 2 of everything in device manager. One each had the red x so I deleted those rebooted and they showed up again. I had to delete the other ones without the red x. When I rebooted everything was alright.
