I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. Have a motherboard ASUS P5S800-VM which has on board video. The red portion of the vidio signal seems to be missing. Not a real problem as the machine was used for a bussiness. Now it has been retired and will be used for personal use. I figured the on board video was the problem so got a GeForce FX 5500. Installed the new card same problem. Three computers are set up on a KVM Switch. No problems with the other two computers, so I know it is not the monitor. 'Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I've had this problem with a VGA cable. Apparently some of the wires in the cable were shorting out. If I bent the cable just right, I could get the display to look okay.

Try hooking it up using the cable and port of one of the other computers, to see if it is the cable or port on the KVM.

Yep. Either the cable or a port on one side or the other is damaged (usually the cable, since VGA ports are all female and thus unlikely to be damaged.) Try another cable and/or monitor.

If the cable is hardwired to the monitor you can usually have it fixed pretty cheaply at a TV/electronics repair place (or by the manufacturer).
