If you are interested in hybrid crossfire with your onboard GPU, I don't think that card your looking at will be compatible. I think the fastest card would be a 5450 for hybrid crossfire with onboard GPU?

As for the error, maybe try uninstalling the video driver, and reinstalling the latest version. Also can try older driver versions to see if they are stable.

The Hybrid Crossfire allows you to put a descrete card with the basically same chipset as your onboard gpu. Hybrid crossfire works both cards in tandem onbaord and descrete). Most discrete cards that are on the market today by AMD and Nvidia would out perform (by itself) a setup that utilizes a hybrid crossfire setup.

You would be way better off by buying a card of your choice (with recomendations via the thread here) that's within your budget and needs. Tell us what you areaiming your system to do (gaming, basic internet . School .. Etc) and your price and you will get great advice.

edit#

I forgot to add that even a 4650 would out perform some hybrid setups.. Someone correct me if I am wrong. It's been a couple years since I invested in a hybrid gpu solution and it was mediocre at best.

On a different note, I am very curious of your onbaord gpu.. Do you hae the onbaord sharing the system RAM or is it routed with only ''sideport'' memory, or is it using both? Also,is the onbaord overclocked in the bios or via CCC ? I currently have the 890 chipset that has onbaord gpu, which can be easily overclocked via CCC and the bios.

But to reconmend a good descrete; depending on if you are loyal to a brand, I would assume a sub <$100 range card would suite you well.. 1gb of vid memory would be sufficient if your gpu needs change ..

I see you have linked a 5670, was there a reason you chose the 5670 other than trying to stay compatibility with the hybrid setup?

I am afraid as someone else has stated, that the hybrid setup anyway - would not be compatible with the 5670 - Only the 4200 series would be compatible with a hybrid setup, and again, there are so many better options out there since the release of the 4200 onboard chipset. (That is what I believe the 700 series AMD chipset has for an onboard GPU)

I looked at both a 5670, and a 6670, and based what I would recommend for a gpu, I looked at the price of what you selected, your use of your system, and also, kept in mind if you have the desire to do light gaming; or if your needs change, the card should suite your needs.

Check this out:

This is the 6670, which out performs the 5670. It has an updated gpu chipset, it's cheaper, and it should be adequate for your expansion needs. I would definitely go for the 6670 rather than the 5670.

I would hope someone else could chime in as well just to give you an another opinion, and it would give you a better selection as well.. If not, I am confident, that this GPU would suite your needs and keeping it's scalability open if your needs changes down the road..

yeah, hybrid CF is suck currently.

and if you PC is not for games then i think the onboard GPU is sufficient enough for you and it can still play some casual games and playing blue-ray movie flawlessly (because i have same exact setup as you)

Since you have the exact same setup as me could you maybe be so kind as to provide me with your current Catalyst COntrol Center version and video driver setup? I would like to compare it to mine, do you experience any type of video disturbances within windows with the drivers failing or any BSOD's? Are you using Windows 7 Ultimate?

sorry, i use XP currently.

and i never have any problem with video playback what so ever, maybe you should uninstall the driver and then install the new one.
