Help!! Real bad XP problem

Ok I installed XP Professional yesterday and it seemed to go ok, but when I started installing programs, everything takes a HELLA long time to load. I have to wait around 2 minutes when I turn on my computer for the programs to come out. Anybody know how to fix this problem?

Run BootVis from Microsoft.

Perform a Trace + Drivers, let the system reboot, and then do an Optimize. Reboot once more. You should see a significant improvement in boot times.

Would be helpful if you post some of your hardware specs, like mobo, processor and such. If you're using a VIA board, check your IDE settings. I had similar trouble with my VIA board.

This computer has a Trigem Motherboard, SoundBlaster Live 5.1, Pentium 3 Katmai, WD Caviar 20gig 7200 RPM hdd, and 128Mbs of ram

Well, having more than 128MB of RAM would make a fairly noticeable difference for a start.

yea, it might be the 128megs. buy ram fast before prices go any higher. i always used 256 megs. i got 512 now and stuff is even better. it might not be the ram though since i never ran on 128

I had some sluggish performance issues using updated Liveware for XP. I finally ended up reinstalling using the native Live drivers from the disk and it works fine now.
