Unfortunatly, several events of late have made me realize that I probably need to reinstall windows (long story). I need help from people who have done this thing before. I need to know things like:

What should I install first (ie. should I update my bios before I format my HD, or is that just stupid).
What programs or updates should be installed before I put my official drivers.(Like directx 8 before I put my Radeon 8500, etc)
Is there anything else that is crucial or very important when reinstalling?

I am running Windows ME, and that will be the version I reinstall. Thanks for any help!

Do not install ME... ME SUCKS! Install either WinXP, Win2000 or Win98SE.

Afterwards, I tend to install all the drivers (updated) and then install directx etc over) works for me every time! 🙂
 
Well, I would install XP if I had it, but I don't really want to shell out 100 bucks for it. ME is fine for now. About updates, what would I need (things that are essential?)
 
you could re-install without formatting your hard drive
either way i'd go with os, chipset drivers, dx , and then the rest of the drivers

and yes...winme sucks compared to anything else IMO
