Help RAM timings? TWR, TRRD, TWTR, Precharge Time?

Got a weird MOBO, only takes 1.6v RAM so I bought some overkill stuff rated for that. Problem is the MOBO can't run at the rated speed either. So I'm trying to manually set the timings since there is no auto for individual stuff. If you set it to manual you have to set everything.

I bought DDR3 2133 1.6v CAS 10-12-12-28-40
Max on MOBO is 1600MHz so I'm trying 9-9-9-27-36

But then I need to set some other stuff and I don't know the formulas or what to use. For the main ones I used:
CL+TRCD+TRP=TRAS and TRAS+TRP=TRC

Is there a simple formula for the others?

Currently running (and functioning in windows):
Write recovery time (TWR)=12
RAS to RAS delay (TRRD)=6
TWTR Command Delay=6
Precharge Time=6

What model motherboard is this?

That's the important question at the moment.

The relationship between the four primary timings is documented and discussed for DDR, -2, and -3 RAM. It is also easy to forget the particulars. One can also find, here and there, a discussion of these timings and one or more of the "advanced" timings.

But hardball-manual overclocking of RAM has sort of fallen out of fashion, and we can either enter the four primary timings manually from memory specs, or depend on "XMP" profiles.

Usually, on motherboards such as my "old" Z68's or Z77's and Ketchup's Z97, JEDEC and XMP timings should reveal themselves in the BIOS menus.

Especially, more recent discussion of XMP in an Anandtech article suggests that XMP is not just for "noobies" who don't understand manual entry of timings for the BIOS -- XMP profiles will optimize all timings, "noob or not-noob." This was confirmed for me by a G.SKILL tech-rep in an e-mail: XMP provides more aggressive advanced timings for better performance.

So, again, the first question: "What motherboard and chipset?" and the second question: "Shouldn't there be an XMP BIOS option to use the RAM's XMP profile(s)?"

This is an old (original?) AM3 system with DDR3.

And the thing is I'm not trying to overclock the RAM at all...I'm trying to underclock it.
As I stated, the max speed on this MOBO is 1600 (with OC) default is 800/1066.

But the MOBO only provides 1.6v+ for RAM and I had a hard time finding a decent set of 1.6v RAM (I didn't want to risk frying a 1.5v set). So I went with a higher spec'd 2133 1.6v set expecting to clock it down to 1600. Problem is that requires manual settings and setting it to manual requires all the timings to be entered manually, not just the main 4.

There is no individual auto or XMP options.

It used to have a 2x2GB kit of OCZ in there, but it's been failing for a long time. Finally got to the point it just had to be replaced (and I always wanted more RAM anyway). I strongly debated buying a used set from this era, but there's a ton of problems and complication with that. Along with no legitimate safe online pay system. Then as I saved up to replace the RAM prices kept going up and up and up. Finally I was able to catch up with the prices though (cost me $80!) and just had to do it.

Anyway...I have found some super insane ridiculous technical papers on RAM and stuff, but I can't read those. My eyes melt out of their sockets after a paragraph or two. I'm hoping somebody actually knows all that junk and can explain it in simple laymen terms. Like the formula I offered above for the 4 or 5 main timings.

Clear enough. You may be going through the headaches that parallel my own with a server I built from a 2007 mobo. It's "just great" now, but my headache was an SATA controller that wasn't AHCI compliant.

I also understand the eye and brain fatigue reading white-papers. SOMEBODY has to have an answer that can help, so all I can say is this: "Good Luck!"

Fortunately the system is working now...I've had some issues with widows DEP errors though (never had them before), so I'm assuming some RAM issues still. It may take a while but I can play trial and error with the settings and hopefully find a good optimized setting that's 100% stable.

Hopefully I can't/don't permanently damage anything by messing with these settings though...that was my main concern.
