I need some help. I just bought parts for a new rig. I got:

Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4
Athlon X2 5200+
2x1GB GSkill DDR2-800 RAM
GeForce 8600GTS
250 GB Sata HD
20X DVD-RW

My problem is that when I put the RAM in like the manual says in DIMMs 1 and 2 I get a continuous beeping that the manual associates with a DRAM problem. However when I place each stick in DIMM 1 individually the system starts up normally (well I get the no video beep, because I haven't installed my video card yet. Still waiting for it. I was just making sure I could get to that point.) Also when I place 1 stick in DIMM 1 and one in DIMM 3 the system starts up nomally. I'll have to really wait on the video card to verify, but I'm wondering if I have a DIMM problem as those are the only configurations that don't give me the continuous beeping. DIMMs 1 and 2 no go. DIMMs 3 and 4 no go. DIMM 1 and 3 good, DIMM 1 only good. DIMM 3 only good. I'm at a loss. I just hope I don't have to send my board back. Anyway thanks for any advice.

Some boards are touchy. You should manually set Vdimm and timing in BIOS to the mfr's specs for greater system stability.

Thanks for the reply. I went into the BIOS and tried manually adjusting the DDR2 voltage and also the timings as best I could, but still no dice. I can get it to post in single channel mode but not dual channel. I also ran Memtest86 and haven't found any errors. I'm really confused. Is my board dead? RAM dead?
