Hi, I have seen before where there is some paramater you can pass when flashing the bios of a bh6 that will allow you to select higher voltages than 1.7. Can somebody please tell me how to do this?

I ordered a retail cel2 566 and msi 6905 Master slotket which haven't arrived. I figure that I might need to boost the voltage above 1.7, so I would like to know how I can do this.

Sorry if this has been posted before. This is my first post, and I was unable to find any posts that tell me how to do this.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Trav

P.S. Also, how exactly do the slotkets work? If my bios only allows me to move the voltage up to 1.7, what happens if I set the voltage on the slotket to 1.8 or something? Any explanation of how this works would be greatly appreciated.

The standard answer to "How do I increase the upper range of Core Voltage selection with a BH6?" is: Set the Core Voltage to the maximum, then flash the Bios. AFAIK, all Slocket "II's" are pretty useless for adjusting Core Voltage. In essence, the mainboard HAS to support CII's/FC-PGA's. The Slocket is only really useful for holding PPGA's/FC-PGA's into a Slot 1. Slocket "III's" MAY actually do what Slocket II's are advertised as being capable of: adjusting Core Voltage.

Thanks for the response!

So the slotket voltage settings are useless, eh? That sucks. What about the FSB setting on the slotkets?

And, when you say increase the core voltage to its max and then flash the bios, do you mean set the bios voltage setting to the max and then flash the bios, or set the slotket voltage setting to its max and then flash the bios? I think you mean to set the bios voltage setting to max, since you said the slotket voltage settings are pretty useless.

I set the voltage on my MSI master slocket too 1.75 volts and now I can raise the volts in the bios of my BH6. I think it just makes the cpu default too 1.75 (or whatever voltage you set your slocket too) instead of 1.5 volts. No need to do the flash trick.

Are you able too secure your slocket into the motherboard? Neither one of my retention brackets (P2 and celeron) are compatible with the MSI master slocket so my slocket is just kinda hangin in there.

I haven't gotten the cpu yet, so I haven't tried it with the bracket. However, I have read several posts from people who said they had to use a saw to cut/trim part of the retention bracket off so that the slotket would fit properly.
