Ok, here's the specs...
Abit KG7-RAID (version 68 BIOS dated 1/28/02)
2x IBM 60GXP 40GB drives
RAID0 array, 64k stripe size - using on-board RAID
When I boot the computer, upon initialization of the RAID controller, I get the following error...
"Stripe (Array#1) : Found a array member was removed" (yeah, it actually said "a array")
I tried hitting Ctrl-H when the RAID controller is first starting to initialize to get into the controller settings. Both of the drives (Primary Master and Secondary Master) appear in the drive list, but when I check array status, there's nothing. The option to rebuild the array is there, so it seems logical both drives are detected.
I've tried swapping new drive cables and power cables in and out, but nothing has made any difference.
Also of note: About a week ago, I had a problem with some files/directories disappearing on the third (of four) partition in my array. After running a full ScanDisk of the four partitions, some file structure errors were found on the first partition (the boot partition), but as far as I could tell, there were no bad sectors found on the drives. Seems these two things are most likely related, though.
So, O Gurus of all things computer related, please help me!! What do I do next? Is the array toast, or can I somehow salvage it (*sob*...15gigs of MP3s gone)?? Is one or both of the hard drives likely shot? If so, since they're OEM drives, I assume I'll have to go direct to IBM for a replacement. How do I go about doing that?
