i have asus a7n8x non-delux (UAY i think). when i put the radeon 9800 non-pro into the AGP slot the red warning light comes on and the system will remain inactive(like nothing works, no fans...nothing) according to manual they say this is due to incorrect AGP card(which it isnt). would a BIOS update fix this? Is the card incompatiable? What should I do?

It should work. Make sure the power connector is connected. Also, remove the card and put it in again, it may not be in all the way.

Yes, re-check all connections first especially that power connector to that card ;)

The power conector is in. I have retried this several times. I am using an ANTEC true 430 so the PSU cant be a porblem. the mobo doesnt support 3.3v AGP. This light acts as a warning on when a card of this is in there, causing your system to do nothing (nothing happens when press the power buton). I am completely lost. :(

Very interesting.

monte: Check for an updated BIOS for your motherboard, if you find one Install it.

I called ASUS, the tech guy said he had no idea what could be causing it. Said it was just weird, because that light is for voltage, so its a voltage problem (even though the card is 1.5v, which is what the mobo requires) The card works fine, i tested it in another computer, so i guess i send ASUS my mobo, not sure, calling again tommorow.

Do you have the 12v 4pin power connected to your motherboard? (aka P4 power connector)

Oh, you are correct, that mobo doesn't have the connector(other NForce2 mobos do though, MSI's anyway).

If you just bought the mobo, you could try returning it to the store first and either get a replacement(likely a rare problem you have) or another mobo make/model. If you've had it for awhile you'll likely need to deal with Asus RMA.

I just got the mobo the other day. I would hate having to replace it, becauseI already have the CPU and all installed. I would hate to have to take it out while a new board is shipped to me (would this tkae a week or more?) I dont know what i'll need to do, but i think it is a rare problem though :\ I ordered the motherboard from newegg.com. I am having no problems with any other aspect of this mother board, just this one card. I did try an old rage 128 agp card that worked fine.

I have now tried clearing RTC ram, resetting cmos, and i updated the BIOS, still no fix. I need to find out if it is the board or the card, cause one has to be replaced, I just dont know which to replace :\. Any suggestions?
