I'm currently buying Nokia 8290 from this guy..

<< Almost new Nokia 8290, only used about a week. Comes in original box with unopened user guide, new battery, and charger. The phone comes in 8890 housing (blue and silver). The phone was used with Cingular and is an excellent buy for Cingular customers who are in contract and need to upgrade or replace their phone. It does not come with a SIM card. Please email me with questions, Shipping is $10 insured to the US and Canada only. Great phone, perfect condition! >>

It DOESN'T come with a SIM card??? WTF does this mean? you mean I have to buy an internal chip separately? I didn't quite notice this just until now.. :|

1. How much do these SIM cards go for?
2. Is it difficult to buy one?
3. How hard is it to install one???
4. I currently have an old Nokia 6120i.. Does that have a SIM card I can put into the new 8290???

answer FAST plz..

Don't you get the SIM card from the service provider?

I'm pretty sure that's what ID's the phone & ties it to a service provider...

SIM cards are used in europe and asia.. here in the US it isnt used (I havent seen any use it).

The 8290 will only work with cingular.. just call them up and find out.

I have Cingular and I have a SIM card in the back. It's like a little chip probably an 1"x.5" small.

I would only buy this phone if I had an old PacBell/Cingular phone that I wanted to upgrade. Then I could just put the old SIM card into the new phone. Otherwise, it seems like a big hassle to buy the phone and buy a SIM card separately.

I have a motorolla with cingular service and it has a SIM card. Small plasitc card with metallic chip on it. about 1cm by 1.5cm. You get it from the service provider and its real easy to put in one.

you can't use the phone WITHOUT THE SIM CARD (except to call 911). Your service provider will provide you with the SIM card. Bid only with you have a current provider (such as voicestream or cingular) OR if you plan to get service with them (get their cheesy free phone and swap SIM cards, not ALL service providers use the SIM card.).

BTW, i just got the phone and it's a pretty cool phone :D - using Voicestream in New Jersey if you're wondering.
