While using Partition Magic 5.0 earlier today my system crashed. When I rebooted I discovered that a 21GB partition on my 46GB HDD had been "unformatted." So now there's about 7GB of data that's apparently lost.
I am about to run Lost & Found to try and recover it. The thing is, since the partition containing the missing data is unformatted L&F doesn't seem to see it. Given that, will it still be able to recover the data? Or should I format the partition? Then it would be "seen" but won't that make the data that much harder to recover? (As it is L&F reports I have a 12GB HDD which doesn't make sense either.
I've rearranged other files on my drive and freed up another partition that can hold all the missing data if it is recovered.
This issue doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere in the manual that came with the software or on PowerQuest's site. Hopefully, someone experienced with this scenario will come to my rescue.
