hi all,

i am sitting an interview in about 8 hours and am a bit nerveous!

Question: in a formal interview is it appropriate to ask at the beginning if i may refer to notes during the interview? or does that look bad that i may need to, or make me look like i am preparded? i have never heard of it not being allowed but what is the protocal on this kinda thing?

feel free to impart anyother info and tips 🙂

thanks in advance! 🙂

notes? you already forgot what you've put in your resume?

tip: try not to get nervous, maintain good eye contact, and speak in a steady pace

the interview is within my company, and alot of the questions are about my experiences at this organisation, such when have i dealt with things such as risk management , budgetary control, proactive in safety etc, citing specific examples...
just easy to forget things when one is nerveous.... thats all 😉

Here are some interview tips. They're pretty much common sense and obvious, but like you said easy to forget when you're nervous.🙂

[*]dress conservatively
[*]smile a lot
[*]shake hands
[*]stay calm
[*]ask questions (to show you're actively and intelligently listening)
[*]act interested
[*]tout your credentials
[*]thank everyone

it is an interview with your own company? why are you nerveous? Is this their standard protocol (ie, they "interview" everyone once every couple years) or was there some sort of inappriorate conduct that brought this on? Or, are you just trying to transfer positions? If it's the latter, I don't think notes would be approriate (but I am in the US), it sounds like you are brittish so maybe things are different there.

i am in australia 🙂
the interview is for a promotion 🙂
the notes where suggested to me, but i have never heard if not being allowed, but i get the feeling that it may not be appropriate, hence asking here for some extrenal advice.

I haven't sat many interveiws before and the interviewers are several positions above mine, and can have a significate impact on my career so i want to make a good impression.

Just pray they don't give you a written test on homonyms and I think you'll be all right.

I wouldn't use notes though. Nervous + notes = shaking paper noises = bad. Just be yourself.
