HELP: Question about Desktop Pentium 4s in Gateway Laptop. Help

I was wondering I know the Desktop Pentium 4 didn't have any speedstep implimented from intel, so manufactures who used it in their notebooks implimented their own.

My Question is in the old 400XL with the DESKTOP Pentium 4, not the Pentium-4M, but the DESKTOP Pentium 4 2.4 GHZ how much did the speed get cut in battery mode.

I looked at the user guides and they didn't mention any sort of speedstep. they could not have it. I know the low end sony with 2.66ghz proc that my wife has doesn't step down (talk about short battery life).
