Help pull out a pentium III CPU

how do you just remove it from the socket?

it that's the case... pull!

edit: er... there might be some tabs.. i'm not sure right now.... (time for more beer... beer sleep is what i am after)

There should be mounting brackets on both sides of the Slot 1 Proc either it be OEM or Retail.

There should be a release mechanism on each (bracket) that releases tension on each notch on each side of the heatsink.

After doing so, gently (do not force) pull on the processor casing exerting conservative force perpendicularly and away from the Slot 1 and the motherboard PCB.

There are two brackets on each side; pick one and pull on it until one of the edges of the CPU pops out. Then pull on the CPU and the other bracket until it slides out.

Hmm... I thought you need to PUSH those clips down to release the CPU. Are you sure on this one BFG?
