Well, a power surge knocked out my 300w Sparkle power supply. I thought it might have got my motherboard also, but after attaching another 300w Sparkle to it, the computer came right up.
I needed the other Sparkle for my brothers computer, so I needed to order another power supply for mine.
Here's were this starts to get strange:
I went to AMD's approved list for power supplies and decided on the A1 Electronics JX-9810UH, which is rated up to an Athlon 1200MHz. Having a K6-3+ 450MHz at 550MHz (2.1 Vcore), I figured I'd be safe for power.
Well, the new power supply got here today. It's what its supposed to be, but its ATX 2.03 and rated for the P4. However, since its on AMD's list, it should work in a normal ATX motherboard (mines a Tyan S1598C2).
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working. I know its not the motherboard, since it works with the other Sparkle. I don't want to try the new A1 on my brothers computer in case it kills it.
I guess my question is: Is there something special I need to do to make this 2.03 ATX power supply work on my 2.01 ATX motherboard?
Thanks in advance!
Chuck
