HELP!!, Problem with TV-Out on radeon 7500...

Well, two problems actually, first of all every time I activate tv out mode only part of the desktop is on the TV screen..the picture on the TV isn't scaled down. I tried running at different (lower) resolutions but nothing works. Also when I play videos I only get a black box on the media player.

Can someone please help, I bought this cable for the sole purpose of watching a movie with my girl tomm.

Oh yeah, here's my specs:
Radeon 7500 64 ddr (Catalyst 2.3)
Sony Multiscan G400 (19in)

TV: Toshiba 20 in. flatscreen
 
Try installing Hydravision and selecting the "Theater Mode" check box on the overlay tab in advanced features.
 
You need to go to Display->Settings->Advanced->Displays (should have ATI logo on the tab), then select the TV as the primary device. The video will now show up on the TV. It may also fix the video cut-off problem. I setup two schemes, one for watching movies and one for normal work. I just pick the one I want from the ATI icon in the system tray. I don't use hydra-vision, I found it to be a pain, but you may like it.
