I suggest you check out the forums at Rage3D.com. I am still running pre-Catalyst drivers, but I'll probably update them when I get back to campus this weekend. Your problem does not sound familiar, but if you are having the same problem on two different machines, then something is up.
 
I have never experience thing like this before. (both card on separate system are running at stock speed)

I never had PC "restart" itself before, and when it come back the winxp saying something like.......
"....................error occur on ATI ............yada..yada..yada...do you want to sent report..."

I don't understand..hmmm.........

Do you know where I can download the pre-catalyst drivers?
 
Try Kazaa perhaps? Or, get someone to send you a set of older drivers. I can't send mine at the moment.

Edit: I know the Catalyst drivers attempt to do something with that GART thing. That could have something to do with it.
 
That is totally odd. Seems like I am the only idiot having these problems. 🙁

But in two complete different system? It just puzzle me!

I will try omegadriver. See if I got this stupid problem again.

 
I have similar problem with the new drivers with older games in W2k, lock ups and reboots on both a 8500 le and AIW Radeon. I found that if I bumped down the hardware acceleration a notch (Display Properties-Settings-Advanced-Trouble Shooting) everything runs fine. You might want to give it a try and see if it helps.
