Hard to judge the value...

You can look it up on KBB or NADA to get a rough idea.

1. They were never in high demand or sold in big numbers
2. Buell was closed down by HD so no dealer support. (If Buell ever comes back, I doubt they were be based on HD engines/tech, and I doubt they would do much for older bikes.)
3. What is the real overall condition and how well has it been maintained?

I personally would not pay more than $2000-3500 depending on condition.

i think 4000-4500 is about right, and if you really dig it's character (ie: vibration ) and the whole "Buell is a Harley Sportster done right" ideal.
personally, i rather get a jpn 4banger 600

They're good bikes, but imo that price is a bit high and I would definitely check into parts availability before buying.

Unless you want that specific bike (which I can understand, it has a lot of character) I would offer 3500 or walk.

Parts availability is fine, and $4500-5000 is a fair price for a 1200 Buell of that year.
