Help!!! Possible PSU Problems.

Hello everyone,

Recently my computer started acting weird. Whenever I push the power button on my PC nothing happens. Sometimes it turns on 10 seconds later or 1 minute later. I'm suspecting that it's my power supply or my power strip. My specs are: EVGA 8800GTX, EVGA 680i SLI Mobo, 2Gb Corsair 800Mhz Ram, and 2 WD 500 Gb Sata 2 hard drives. The OS is Win XP Professional w/SP2.

BTW, this started after my friends brought his pc over and hooked it up in the room next to mine.

Thanks,
Alex

I've never heard of that brand, would you provide a link to this PSU?

It is probably the PSU like you said. If you have a spare to test with (maybe borrow your friend's PSU) do so to make sure that is the problem.

in your original post you stated that you think it might be your "power strip" do you have it plugged into a UPS? If so have you tried plugging it directly into the wall and testing it?

Sounding more like the PSU to me, like the caps inside aren't working properly. Do try and borrow another PSU if you can to verify but I'm pretty sure that's it.

If it is your PSU, frys has a $50 deal on the Antec Earthwatts 500W PSU which is a steal. Also, if your PSU is bad, don't throw it in the trash. PM me first.

That is also a great PSU, I run one myself
Was just thinking on more of budget terms, looking at the price of your current PSU and all.
