Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2HP
Processor : Phenom X4 9950 Quad Core-2.6GHz
PSU: crossair 650w
RAM: 2 x 2Gb DDR2 800 MHz

With windows xp there are no issues for GTX+

But when vista 64 (all versions tested) is installed and during driver update the system freezes..then blue screen..

Is this a common issue, is there a solution...

Plz help...

I've heard of several crashing/artifacting issues with the 9800 GTX+, some of which it seems to have been corrected through driver fishing. I would think the most recent ones have fixed the issues, but I'm not sure.

What drivers are you currently running? Also, what kind of a PSU do you have?

Also, here's some threads you may find useful:

For those following this thread, to uninstall Nvr0flashdev go to Devise manager .. click View .. put a check mark in "Show hidden devises" .. and you will find it under "Non plug and play devises" .. right click and uninstall.

The problems I've heard are with the newer GTX+'s with the one PCIe power plug.
Mine works fine in Vista64. NEver had one problem.

Sorry abt, not mentioning PSU: Crossair 650W

The problem is installing these drivers with both provided cd and website..(I mean the cd provided with te card and the same from makers website)
When the installation is in process or even sometimes, after finishing install, the system freezes.

Thank you reply, I'll look into the links and if the issue is not solved I'll reply for the same.

I've done some research into this myself as I'm trying to decide between which 9800 GTX+ to purchase. I was considering the Superclocked version by EVGA with the single 6-pin connector, but, as you mentioned it seems there's been some problems with them. Though, solutions have been found, one of which seems to disable the 2D/3D clock switching:

Have you fully updated Vista to SP1 before attempting to install any of the video drivers? SP1 has numerous hot fixes specific to video problems. Also, try updating your BIOS to the latest version.

The various links provided was not that much informative. And its too lengthy full of texts. No use so far.

And regarding vista sp1 i'm waiting to get sp2...so lets say sp1 did not solve my problem.

Let me be clear one again, my os is vista 64 sp1, when I try to install driver for the 9800 gtx+ the system freezes. I tried the driver cd and also downloaded it from the makers website. My issue still exists.

I need to know has anyone in this forum had the same issue with the 9800 gtx+ and vista 64...and has the same had been solved or not..?

Thank you all in advance..and also too all those who have replied so far....

And this happens after a clean install of Vista 64 SP1?

Also, what are the actual driver numbers? Which 9800 GTX+ do you own?

Ok so did XP have any problems cus you didn't say if it did or didn't? Do you have any other graphics cards to install to see if they work corrctly??? How about using different versions of the nvidia driver?
